The strategic sourcing forum
Speaking on stage 1 at Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE New York, Carrie Uhl, Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) at GE Healthcare and Rahul Garg, Founder of Moglix took part in the strategic sourcing forum.
During the forum, the two discussed the critical role that strategic sourcing plays in supply chain management when aiming to identify the right suppliers, negotiate the best terms and conditions, and ultimately improve the bottom line for an organisation.
“One of the challenges that folks have today in trying to build out a strategic sourcing organisation is balancing all of the different things that can be at odds with each other. The last several years have shone a light on the need to be more resilient,” said Uhl.
She adds: “It’s a word that we are all tired of hearing and saying but it’s not going away, so when we look at supply chains you’ve go to be dual-sourced as much as you can. You need to be regionalised as much as you can and you need to be sustainable, all while driving cost out and to do all these things at the same time is really difficult - it's a balancing act.”
