How Amazon Business is Driving Digital Procurement

2025 marks the 10th year of Amazon Business and its ability to transform business buying, and a major milestone has been reached – it is now actively serving eight million organisations around the world, excluding emerging markets.
Amazon Business is helping everything from small businesses to some of the world's largest companies.
Operating on the best of Amazon, it helps to provide everyday low prices, a vast selection and a convenient shopping and delivery experience.
This is underpinned by a diverse supplier network, a reliable and adaptable global logistics network and intuitive AI-powered data analytics tools to meet the needs of all organisations, including 97 of the Fortune 100 companies and hundreds of thousands of small business customers worldwide.
Amazon Business continues to be a priority for Amazon, driving over US$35bn in annualised gross sales, with strong adoption and positive feedback from customers.
Eight million organisations and counting
Shelley Salomon, Global Vice President for Amazon Business, says: "When organisations partner with Amazon Business, they're not just shopping–they're streamlining their supply chain while saving time and money through powerful tools designed specifically for business needs.
"From local entrepreneurs to multinational companies, we deliver what matters most: access to hundreds of millions of items worldwide, significant cost savings year-round and even more convenient delivery helping organisations save time and money, reduce complexity and ultimately grow."
Through working directly with sellers, Amazon Business helps to keep pricing competitive, as well as making curated catalogues offering items shipped and sold by Amazon with more predictable pricing.
In the first half of 2025, Amazon Business helped drive over US$150m in savings for US businesses – from purchasing thousands of reams of paper, through to hundreds of computer accessories, lab supplies or building materials. These savings from this single discount, along with the dozens of others offered by Amazon Business, offered organisations the chance to reinvest the funds into their businesses.
These benefits have also been seen by smaller customers, helping to drive US$70m in savings for them worldwide. Smaller businesses based in the US have saved over US$25m through bulk purchasing in the last 12 months.
Strategic tools for smarter spending
Amazon Business provides several cost-saving tools designed to help organisations optimise their purchasing processes and reduce expenses.
Guided Buying serves as a strategic purchasing feature that directs employees toward approved products and suppliers whilst automatically implementing spending controls and approval processes. This tool helps organisations minimise unplanned purchases, which reduces unexpected expenses and contributes to overall cost savings.
The platform also includes Spend Analytics, which delivers comprehensive data-driven insights that enable organisations to identify cost reduction opportunities throughout their procurement activities. This analytical tool provides detailed examinations of spending patterns, evaluates supplier performance metrics and offers category-level analysis.
Through these insights, organisations can pinpoint areas where savings are possible, develop stronger negotiation positions with suppliers and implement process improvements that directly impact their financial performance.
With these tools, alongside offerings such as subscribe and save, organisations of all different sizes can optimise their spending and maximise their budgets – allowing for more strategic purchasing and as mentioned, the ability to reinvest.
Meeting every business need with unmatched selection
Amazon Business prides itself on the ability to action customer feedback to help continuously expand its selection, helping every organisation, no matter their unique purchasing needs.
Its customers can source everything from Amazon Business whether that's workplace basics to specialised industrial equipment, using tools to curate selection specific to their organisation's needs. This includes products like professional medical equipment, commercial kitchen equipment, technology solutions for the classroom, agricultural supplies, industrial manufacturing equipment and much more.
It's also helping customers access 25% more items globally compared to this time last year – which has seen marked growth in specialised categories like industrial and scientific supplies, professional-grade equipment, healthcare and laboratory materials, education resources and technology and facility maintenance supplies, reflecting Amazon Business's commitment to meeting organisations' diverse needs.
Small business seller selection grew almost 80% year-over-year, with customers having the ability to access 160 million items from these smaller business sellers across the world. Offering everything from medical supplies to professional grade tools.
Amazon Business provides organisations with sophisticated tools to efficiently manage their purchasing processes across the platform's extensive product catalogue. Business Lists functionality streamlines recurring procurement by enabling organisations to build customised collections of regularly purchased items.
This capability ensures purchasing consistency across different departments whilst significantly reducing the time employees spend searching for products. The feature transforms routine buying into an efficient, streamlined process by allowing quick access to pre-approved items.
The platform's Integrated Search capability seamlessly connects Amazon Business with existing company e-procurement systems, allowing buyers to browse and purchase from millions of available products without disrupting their established workflows.
This integration reduces the complexity of the purchasing process by minimising system transitions, enhancing adherence to organisational procurement policies and enabling businesses to leverage Amazon's competitive pricing and product selection whilst maintaining their preferred operational systems.
Expanded selection has provided supply chain resilience and competitive pricing – alongside fast delivery, as this expanded selection has been made possible through this expanded selection on a global network.
As well as helping through personalised recommendations and innovative search features, it offers businesses of all sizes the chance to uncover products quickly and buy these products which are vital to their operations – all whilst having access to the broadest selection of business-relevant products available.
Enhancing convenience with streamlined delivery for business customers
Amazon Business prides itself on its fast flexible delivery solutions which give businesses more control.
This includes offering specific delivery windows which line up with business hours and designating precise delivery points, allowing a tailored delivery which, alongside existing workflows, also improves security and efficiency in the receiving process and saves time for businesses.
Amazon has significantly enhanced its delivery capabilities through substantial investments in infrastructure, including delivery stations, sortation centres and transportation networks, enabling the company to achieve unprecedented delivery speeds.
This strategic expansion resulted in hundreds of millions of orders being delivered to business customers within same-day or next-day timeframes globally over the past year, encompassing everything from individual essential items to complex multi-product shipments.
In alignment with sustainability goals and operational efficiency, Amazon Business has substantially expanded its pallet delivery service, making this consolidated shipping option available to more than 85% of business customers across the United States.
This delivery method reduces both environmental impact through decreased packaging waste and the number of individual delivery trips whilst simultaneously helping organisations optimise their receiving processes and warehouse operations.
Amazon Business Prime members also benefit from Amazon Day for Business, a complimentary delivery service that allows customers to designate a specific day each week for each business address to receive all qualifying orders. This scheduling flexibility helps businesses better manage their receiving operations and consolidate deliveries according to their operational preferences.
These enhancements, powered by Amazon's logistics network, demonstrate the company's commitment to providing fast, flexible and streamlined delivery to each organisation's unique needs. By reducing transportation distances and optimising delivery routes, Amazon is not only improving speed but also increasing reliability and reducing environmental impact.
