Vooma, the AI-powered platform bidding to revolutionise freight logistics, has raised US$13m in a Series A funding round led by Craft Ventures

Vooma, an AI platform revolutionising the logistics industry, has secured US$13m in a Series A funding round spearheaded by Craft Ventures.

The funding builds on a US$3.6m seed round led by Index Ventures, with additional support from prominent angel investors connected to major logistics and tech companies like Uber Freight, Ryder and Project44.

The investment surge highlights Vooma’s potential to streamline operations for brokers and carriers while accelerating growth in a traditionally manual sector.

Making logistics smarter with Vooma Agents

Vooma positions itself as the "AI agent for logistics," focusing on eliminating repetitive tasks for brokers and carriers.

This allows users to dedicate their time to securing freight, strengthening customer relationships and scaling their businesses effectively.

Vooma Agents, a first-of-its-kind multi-channel AI platform, operate seamlessly across email, text and voice, automating workflows that previously required significant manual effort.

By offering tools like Vooma Quote, Vooma Build and the newly-launched Vooma Voice, the platform tackles inefficiencies head-on:

  • Vooma Quote analyses quotes, drafts email responses and tracks win/loss opportunities. Customers report saving five minutes per quote—a seemingly small change that quickly accumulates into hours saved daily.
  • Vooma Build streamlines load-building by completing data entry tasks in seconds. Clients have automated 80% of manual order entries, slashing errors and speeding up growth.
  • Vooma Voice facilitates inbound and outbound calls, simplifying tasks such as booking loads, scheduling appointments and conducting check calls.

Since launching in 2023, Vooma has gained traction with leading brokers and carriers, including Echo, MODE, Arrive Logistics and NFI.

The platform boasts a 12.5x revenue increase, a 32x boost in transaction volume and the processing of hundreds of thousands of loads.

Partnerships with industry stalwarts like Greenscreens.ai, McLeod and Turvo further enhance Vooma’s integration into existing logistics systems, creating seamless workflows without overhauling operational practices.

Industry leaders praise Vooma

Jack Twyman, Chief Customer and Digital Officer at MoLo Solutions, one of the top 15 freight brokers in the US, highlights the platform’s transformative impact.

“Vooma’s platform effectively integrates with our systems and allows our team and our customers to gain efficiency, without changing how we do business," he says.

"We can offload rote tasks to stay focused on customer service and work that requires the human touch so we can keep building meaningful relationships to drive our business forward.”

With these relationships at its core, Vooma continues to prove its value in an industry where human connections are essential to success.

Driving innovation in freight logistics

Vooma is the brainchild of logistics and tech veterans Jesse Buckingham and Mike Carter.

Jesse, the former CEO of ASG LogisTech, and Mike, an early engineer at Kodiak Robotics, have brought together a team with unparalleled expertise. Their mission? To deliver AI solutions that empower the logistics workforce while addressing complex challenges in freight movement.

Jesse explains the vastness of the opportunity: “The United States moves approximately 11.5 billion tonnes of truckloads annually and moving freight from point A to B requires hundreds of touchpoints between shippers, brokers and carriers.

"By introducing AI that fits naturally into existing systems, workflows and communication channels used across the industry, we are meaningfully reducing the tasks people dislike and freeing up their time and headspace for more meaningful and complex challenges.”

Mike echoes this enthusiasm, noting that Vooma’s AI is designed to “transform the way we work” by harnessing the power of large language models (LLMs) and cross-channel automation.

A promising future

Investors are equally optimistic about Vooma’s trajectory.

"The Vooma team has a deep understanding of the end market and appreciation for the complexity of its systems," praises Lainy Painter Singh, Partner at Craft Ventures.

"We believe the company will not only delight customers with AI solutions that make their businesses more efficient, but help solve the industry’s most pressing challenges.”

This new round of funding from investors like Definition Capital, HOF Capital, Soma Capital and Operator Stack Fund positions Vooma to scale its operations further.

The company plans to grow its engineering, customer success and go-to-market teams to meet increasing demand for its AI-powered tools.

With its innovative approach and robust support, Vooma stands ready to redefine logistics – one efficient, AI-driven task at a time.
