How JAGGAER's Direct Procurement Will Help Knorr-Bremse
Knorr-Bremse, a world leader in braking systems and safety-critical systems for rail and commercial vehicles, has chosen JAGGAER to digitalise its supplier communication.
The decision comes after an exhaustive selection process, highlighting the growing importance of advanced procurement solutions in today's complex supply chain environment.
JAGGAER, with its 30 years of expertise in AI-powered, industry-specific solutions, emerged as the preferred choice for Knorr-Bremse's ambitious digitisation project.
The company's Source-to-Pay suite particularly impressed decision-makers with its ability to address the intricate needs of direct procurement.
Andreas Piehl, Specialist for Tools & Processes Procurement at Knorr-Bremse Rail Division, explained the rationale behind their choice: "One of the main challenges of software solutions for direct procurement is reliably and comprehensively mapping the complex needs of this area.
"Due to its tailored and end-user-friendly solutions, the Source-to-Pay suite from JAGGAER finally prevailed among the competitors and won our contract."
The selection process was notably rigorous, including a final assessment which saw extensive testing by over 40 users from across Knorr-Bremse's global locations.
This hands-on approach ensured that the chosen solution would meet the practical needs of users across various roles, from dispatchers to directors.
Justin Sadler-Smith, SVP Europe at JAGGAER, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome: "We're very pleased that, after such an intensive selection process, we were awarded the contract by a global player like Knorr-Bremse and that user feedback supported our solutions. This also confirms that our tools have convinced not only technologically but also in handling."
The phased implementation of JAGGAER's solutions across Knorr-Bremse includes introducing functionalities in purchasing, quality and supply chain at pilot locations before a global rollout.
Christian Keck, Vice President Global Supply Chain Management at Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Nutzfahrzeuge, highlighted the broader scope of the project: "The commercial vehicle division will implement further modules in the areas of quality and supply chain management to enhance digitalisation."
The JAGGAER ONE suite, set to be implemented at Knorr-Bremse Rail Division, encompasses modules such as Direct Supplier Management, Direct Supplier Performance, Direct Document Management, Direct Sourcing, Spend Analytics and Multi ERP.
This comprehensive approach aims to create a unified system for supplier management processes, driving efficiency through automation and standardisation.
One of the key benefits for procurement teams will be the creation of a single source of truth for all critical data, documentation and certifications.
This centralised approach is expected to eliminate redundancies and optimise communication across locations, streamlining processes from supplier onboarding to performance evaluation and tendering.
Andreas emphasised the anticipated improvements: "From now on, everything will run uniformly worldwide through one system, creating great added value for all parties involved.
Among other things, key processes will be accelerated and communication between us and suppliers will become even more efficient."
The implementation of JAGGAER's solutions is also set to enhance supplier collaboration significantly. Suppliers will be able to manage their master data independently and access a central platform for document exchange, including material drawings and compliance certificates.
