Which Global Enterprises are Sourcing From Small Businesses?

Supplier.io has released its 2025 Small Business Impact Report, recognising leading companies for their investments into small businesses.
Moreover, the report stresses the importance of small and local suppliers within a company's performance, exploring how investments into these businesses can grow resilient supply chains.
Through this report, procurement leaders can clearly see the benefits of diversifying their suppliers, investing in small suppliers and focusing on localisation strategies.
Investing in small suppliers
Supplier.io is the market-leading provider of supplier intelligence solutions. More than half of the Fortune 100 rely on Supplier.io to power procurement programmes which help create innovation and growth.
Its 2025 Small Business Impact Report has taken data from more than 500 organisations which have spent more than US$122bn on small business investments. This then translated into an estimated US$202.7bn in total economic output, demonstrating how good investments gain strong results.
The report analyses how the companies are interacting with small enterprises - how much they are spending, what they are purchasing, etc. This is in place to examine how procurement teams are directing their spend into small businesses to create measurable positive impact.
Economic impact analysis helps businesses understand how money spent on products and services turns into job transformations, wages, taxes and more. In the 2025 report, Supplier.io found that the US$122bn investment supported more than 828,000 jobs across the US.
Economic impact is measured through:
- Output - cumulative revenues of all impacted businesses, including direct, indirect and induced
- Income - cumulative earnings of employees in supported jobs
- Jobs - created within the clients' supply chain and the suppliers' communities
- Taxes - measures the federal, state and local tax revenues generated through economic activity.
“When large enterprises choose to work with small businesses, the impact is immediate and measurable: stronger supply chains, increased agility and billions flowing back into local economies,” says Neeraj Shah, Founder and CEO of Supplier.io.
“Small and local expertise has become essential to building resilient, cost-effective supply chains in today’s volatile market. Supplier.io gives companies the data and insights to scale these partnerships with confidence, creating value for both businesses and communities.”
The 2025 report showed that the US$122.7bn spend had a major impact. More than 439,000 direct jobs were supported, direct income earnings totalled US$38.8bn and total taxes were at US$23bn.
Celebrating successful procurement strategies
Supplier.io is celebrating the businesses that have made a real impact, naming 20 companies as 2025 Small Business Impact Champions. These are the businesses making ongoing investments into small business partnerships, fuelling economic and community growth.
The companies are: Amazon, Aramark, Baxter, CVS Health, DuPont, FanDuel, Fidelity, HP Inc., International Paper, NCR Atleos, Prudential, Smurfit Westrock, UnitedHealth Group, Regions Bank, Suntory Global Spirits and UPS.
Together, these companies contributed to more than US$66bn in incomes earned and US$23bn in tax revenue generated across the US economy. Through a total economic impact driven by direct, indirect and induced impacts, every US$1 spent with small or local suppliers made US$1.65 in total output.
“At Regions, we believe local and small-business sourcing is more than a procurement strategy – it’s an engine for economic prosperity,” said Tiffany Lovelace, Senior Vice President and Head of Local Sourcing at Regions Bank.
“By working with businesses in the communities where we operate, we support local economies and local jobs while strengthening income streams. Local sourcing is not only about who supplies us with products and services to make banking easier for our customers, but also about how we invest in communities throughout our footprint.”
The report also examined specific industries and states across the US where growth in small business sourcing is occurring. Regarding job creation, professional, scientific, and technical services; construction; and administrative and support services were the leaders in industry. In those three industries, a total of 191,825 jobs were supported as a result of the small business investments.
California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Florida had the greatest economic impact, contributing more than US$70bn in total output, with more than 310,000 jobs supported.
The study shows that investing in small suppliers can have a significant economic impact. Procurement teams who focus on local sourcing can strengthen their own enterprise performance at the same time as supporting community growth.
