Cognizant has announced an expansion of its strategic partnership with Google Cloud
Using Google Cloud, Cognizant turns AI strategy into governed, scalable systems, helping enterprises move from planning to real-world execution at scale

Cognizant has announced an expansion of its strategic partnership with Google Cloud, signalling a major shift from simple AI experimentation to the large-scale execution of agentic AI.

This new phase aims to help enterprises move beyond basic automation towards AI-driven systems that can autonomously manage complex, multi-step business processes.

For procurement and supply chain leaders, the most significant aspect of this collaboration is the focus on “agentic” solutions – AI systems designed to operate with a level of autonomy to achieve specific business outcomes.

Streamlining the value chain

A central pillar of the expanded partnership is a new productivity offering that combines Google’s Gemini Enterprise with Google Workspace. This suite is specifically designed to help organisations transition from manual, fragmented tasks to streamlined, AI-driven workflows.

Cognizant highlighted several high-impact use cases for this technology, including:

  • Supplier communications: Automating and optimising the flow of information between enterprises and their vendor base.
  • Collaborative content creation: Speeding up the generation of documentation and internal assets.
  • Intelligent order management: Leveraging the “Cognizant Agent Foundry” to provide pre-configured, no-code solutions for complex logistics and fulfilment challenges.

Building an ‘agentic’ operating model

To ensure these AI agents are reliable enough for enterprise-grade procurement environments, Cognizant is establishing a dedicated Gemini Enterprise Centre of Excellence. This centre will utilise a proprietary Agent Development Lifecycle (ADLC), a framework that integrates AI directly into the development workflow – from the initial design and blueprinting of a process to its final production rollout and validation.

Annadurai Elango, President, Core Technologies and Insights, Cognizant, says: “This partnership reinforces Cognizant’s position as an AI builder, a new kind of services partner focused on creating purpose-built, enterprise-grade solutions that drive real business outcomes.

“Cognizant brings together the optimal combination of people and technology, including proprietary IP and deep services expertise, to build industry-specific platforms, embed context into systems, and co-create agentic solutions tailored to each client’s business.”

Data foundations and scalable delivery

Recognising that AI is only as good as the data powering it, the partnership utilises Cognizant Ignition (enabled by Gemini) to accelerate the discovery and optimisation of a client’s data foundations.

This is a critical step for procurement departments looking to gain better visibility into spend data, contract terms and supplier performance.

The collaboration also includes a global cadre of Gemini-trained specialists who will scale delivery across Google Distributed Cloud programmes, ensuring that these agentic tools can function across various digital environments.

Kevin Ichhpurani, President of Global Ecosystem and Channels at Google Cloud, adds: “Our partnership with Cognizant brings together advanced AI technology and deep industry expertise to help enterprises operationalise agentic AI.

“Together, we are enabling organisations to deploy enterprise-ready AI solutions that deliver real business impact.”

As enterprises seek greater governance and measurable impact from their digital investments, the Cognizant–Google partnership positions “agentic AI” as the next frontier for operational efficiency in the global supply chain.
