Coupa’s Top 5 Stories Ahead of Inspire 2026

With only days to go until Coupa Inspire 2026, Procurement Magazine reflects on a landmark 12 months for the spend management leader.
Since last year's flagship gathering in Las Vegas, Coupa has maintained its relentless momentum, stacking industry awards, hosting global events and delivering high-impact advancements in its AI suite.
As Inspire 2026 prepares to take center stage on the procurement calendar, it’s clear the company is only accelerating.
Before the industry descends on ARIA Las Vegas from 11–14 May, we revisit the biggest stories and milestones that defined Coupa’s past year.
Why Coupa is a Leader in AI-Enabled Source-to-Pay
Coupa has been rated as a Leader by IDC MarketScape for its strategies and capabilities in the source-to-pay arena.
The IDC MarketScape: Worldwide AI-Enabled Source to Pay (S2P) 2025 Vendor Assessment highlights Coupa's ability to provide a "single, integrated platform built natively in the cloud with a single code base, ensuring rapid deployment of innovations and ease of global scalability.
Coupa's AI capabilities are fuelled by a vast B2B commerce data set, trillions in spend transactions from a 10-million strong community of buyers and suppliers, enabling advanced, context-aware insights and prescriptive recommendations embedded throughout the S2P process.
Coupa delivers comprehensive source-to-pay functionality through its AI-powered spend management platform, addressing both essential procurement and accounts payable operations while providing complete direct and indirect spend management capabilities.
How Coupa is Powering Procurement Maturity
Modern procurement is the engine of organisational resilience and margin expansion. However, many teams remain stalled by the 'tactical trap.' Bridging this gap is the key to unlocking a US$500bn efficiency opportunity identified by McKinsey, whose benchmarking survey found a direct correlation between procurement maturity and higher profitability.
While a focus on manual compliance and baseline controls is non-negotiable for risk management, this disproportionate emphasis often acts as an anchor, preventing the function from evolving into a high-impact strategic partner.
By leveraging AI to handle the tactical necessity, procurement leaders aren't just saving time; they are unlocking a proven formula for superior business profitability.
To help teams navigate this transition, Coupa is launching the Procurement Maturity Assessment. Through a seven question survey, Coupa will help users to uncover their maturity stage, identifying exactly where inefficiency is trapped across the pillars of people, process and technology.
The assessment evaluates where an organisation sits on the curve, from Stage 1 (Tactical) and Stage 2 (Sourcing Mastery) to Stage 3 (Category Strategy) and the ultimate goal of Stage 4 (Autonomous Management).
Coupa Inspire London: Driving Procurement Excellence With AI
Following its dynamic launch in Las Vegas, Coupa's Inspire tour made its impactful approach to London, catering to a focused audience with an agenda zeroing in on supply chain strategies.
At this event, Coupa's suite of procurement solutions was spotlighted, bringing to fore data-driven insights and artificial intelligence as major themes.
The gathering placed a particular emphasis on the transformative potential of data, AI and networking, encapsulated in speeches and success stories from executives and clients alike.
Uniting strategic and technical expertise, the event offered attendees actionable insights, living up to the promise of its name, Inspire.
Leagh Turner, Coupa's Chief Executive Officer, set an ambitious tone in her keynote address.
Rather than focusing solely on the platform's capabilities, she outlined a long-term vision paralleled with the aspirational spirit of John F. Kennedy's 1961 moon-landing pledge.
"Our vision is aspirational... it’s bold enough to stretch our imagination and yet it’s feasible enough to be credible," Leagh articulated.
Coupa: Powering Growth with Agentic AI & Spend Intelligence
As enterprises race to harness AI, many are finding that speed alone isn’t the secret to success. Rather, trust, explainability and measurable outcomes are the desired results.
For Coupa, the global leader in spend management, the future of AI is not just generative, it’s agentic – a new model of intelligent systems that act, reason and explain within business context. And as Peter Truman, Senior Director of Technical Architects at Coupa, explains, this approach is transforming procurement and finance into a smarter, faster, more connected function.
The surge in AI adoption is being driven from the top. “Various organisations are driving the use of AI and wanting to see results fairly quickly,” says Peter. “We're seeing that from board level coming down into the organisation to use AI.”
But this demand for speed comes with structural and human challenges. Skilled AI professionals remain scarce, employees fear displacement and leaders face pressure to demonstrate a tangible return on investment. “It’s very difficult in many cases to actually see what that return on investment is,” Peter adds.
“We’ve seen many organisations try to do all sorts of different things with AI and it’s really difficult to see the benefits that’s actually bringing.”
This disconnect between ambition and outcome is why Coupa is doubling down on a vertical approach to AI, says Peter, adding: “we are really focusing on the vertical approach to AI within what we’re doing within the Coupa platform.”
