Coupa: Unifying Supply Chain Design, Planning and Execution

In an era marked by supply chain disruption, siloed functions have proven to be too great a risk for resilient business operations.
As such, businesses like Coupa operate to unify the planning and execution of supply chain operations in order to maintain cohesion and workflow.
Coupa has announced that it is collaborating with Miebach to help connect supply chain design, planning and execution.
This was announced a week before Coupa Inspire is set to take place, where leaders will be able to learn more about AI use in procurement and supply chain operations.
Creating unification
Coupa is a leading platform for autonomous spend management, offering evidence-based intelligence and autonomous AI agents to help buyers and suppliers across a unified platform. It automates the purchasing and transaction process for buyers and suppliers, helping create seamless workflows and payment timelines.
Now, it is collaborating with Miebach in order to drive a unification across procurement and supply chain functions.
Miebach is a global supply chain consulting and engineering firm, working to improve service and resilience across end-to-end supply chains. It helps across optimisation of manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations, as well as design and planning transformation.
The new partnership aims to improve supply chain decision-making, utilising a unified Design-to-Plan approach which will unify design, planning and execution.
For a long time, supply chain and procurement operations ran off spreadsheets and paper trails, with mass amounts of information spread across fragmented data sets. As such, processes took longer to organise and mistakes were more likely to occur.
Constant volatility and supply chain disruptions have meant that traditional solutions are not enough. Supply chain and procurement leaders are increasingly expected to align operational and financial decisions, meaning that the need for closer collaboration and the capability to adapt is necessary.
This new solution will help unite the functions in order to develop more aligned supply chains, which will help them develop greater resilience.
Stronger decision making
The collaboration between Coupa and Miebach will help organisations create stronger and more adaptive, orchestrated planning investments. Through this, businesses will be able to embed scenario analysis, optimisation and decision intelligence into Integrated Business Planning, Sales and Operations Planning, as well as broader supply chain operating models.
Through this, businesses will be able to transform into more executable and aligned decision-makers, with a unification across cost, service, risk, resilience and sustainability. Rather than having fragmentation across business goals, there will be a stronger collaborative alignment in order to ensure businesses can organise priorities and deliver actionable strategies.
“Supply chains need more than just faster planning, they need better intelligence and decisioning,” says Dean Bain, SVP and GM, Supply Chain of Coupa.
“Through our collaboration with Miebach, we are helping organisations add a layer of actionable intelligence that connects design, planning, and execution, enabling more adaptive, executable decisions in increasingly dynamic environments.
"Coupa’s leading category strategy solution, powered by Cirtuo, is the engine powering this shift, using AI-driven intelligence to dynamically translate corporate goals into executable sourcing constraints, ensuring every material dollar is spent wisely and strategically.”
The collaboration will utilise Coupa's AI-native end-to-end supply chain design and optimisation capabilities, which will also include digital twin-based scenario modeling. Miebach will demonstrate its expertise in supply chain strategy, planning transformation and execution-oriented operating model design.
Developing resilience
Businesses need to have stronger alignment across their functions in order to operate successfully. An inability to collaborate will cause delays and larger costs throughout the organisation.
“Decisions only matter if they are accurate and hold up in the real world,” explains Nick Banich, Equity Partner and Chief Revenue Officer for Miebach US and CA.
“Many organisations have strong capabilities in both network design and planning, but they sit with different teams, tools, and decision cycles. The real unlock comes when those capabilities work seamlessly together. This unique collaboration helps connect those investments, enabling organisations to bring strong design intelligence into planning and drive more accurate, profitable decisions.”
The aim is to help companies:
- Increase alignment capabilities across supply chain design, planning and execution
- Enhance scenario planning through using AI-driven decision-making
- Increase resilience across the supply chain by utilising dynamic evaluation
- Have greater connection across operational decisions and financial outcomes
- Ensure greater adaptability across end-to-end supply chains
Coupa is helping unite business operations, with initial focuses on strategic sourcing, inventory deployment, capacity planning and resilience scenarios. Over time, this collaboration will expand over time to meet specific customer issues.
