Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise and Nokia are combining optical fibre and campus networking to help critical industries build resilient & sustainable infrastruce

Procurement leaders in critical industries face growing pressure to source infrastructure that supports digital transformation, while also meeting sustainability and resilience goals.

To meet these complex demands, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) and Nokia have strengthened their strategic alliance. The partnership combines high-capacity optical fibre technology with secure campus networking to serve sectors navigating these challenges.

The integration pairs Nokia's Optical LAN with ALE’s enterprise networking solutions. This creates a fibre-based infrastructure that can deliver multi-gigabit data speeds across demanding environments.

Deployments at Ikos Resorts in Greece, Pantai Jerudong Hospital in Brunei and Wembley Park in the UK show how this combined approach addresses the evolving requirements of modern campus networks.

The collaboration adds to a five-year partnership that includes major infrastructure projects such as Grand Paris Express and Montreal Railways.

Lowering costs and energy consumption

A key advantage of the integrated solution is its potential for greater efficiency.

According to Nokia, its Optical LAN technology when integrated into ALE’s network offering provides advantages, including lower energy consumption and a reduced total cost of ownership.

For procurement executives, this could mean operational savings and a smaller environmental footprint. The fibre infrastructure can also help to save space and reduce the number of network layers required, a benefit seen in the hospitality sector where Ikos Resorts connected hundreds of guest rooms and operational systems through a single network architecture.

ALE's advanced LAN and Wi-Fi provide automated solutions for efficient and secure device onboarding. This is supported by asset discovery and classification, virtual segmentation and continuous monitoring capabilities, offering organisations a streamlined way to manage their network infrastructure.

Securing mission-critical infrastructure

The partnership is particularly relevant for the logistics and infrastructure sectors. For organisations managing automated warehouses and transport networks, the solution offers mission-critical reliability alongside reduced energy use.

Through advanced features like virtual segmentation and automated asset discovery, organisations can securely modernise their operational technology. This ensures resilient connectivity for the complex networks of devices that power contemporary supply chains.

Sandrine El Khodry EVP Global Sales & Marketing at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise explains "By combining ALE’s agile enterprise networking solutions with Nokia’s carrier-grade infrastructure, we offer a comprehensive portfolio that addresses the unique needs of critical industries.

"Our partnership is built on trust, innovation and a shared commitment to customer success."

A proven global partnership

The joint solution from Nokia and ALE has been deployed in more than 100 enterprises globally, establishing a track record across diverse sectors and geographical markets.

This positions both companies to meet the evolving demands of critical industries that require robust sustainable infrastructure.

The combined offering addresses growing bandwidth requirements while reducing environmental impact through its energy-efficient fibre-based architecture. This approach supports organisations seeking to balance operational performance with sustainability objectives.

Matthieu Bourguignon, Senior Vice-President Head of Europe at Nokia, adds: "Our collaboration with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise allows us to deliver end-to-end, mission-critical solutions that go beyond traditional boundaries.

"We are proud of the joint successes we’ve achieved and look forward to enabling even more transformative projects together."
