Siemens & IFS AI Tech: Fighting Supply Chain Disruption

Siemens aims to bolster its industrial AI capabilities and manufacturing efforts through a strategic collaboration with the AI-driven software provider Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Details of partnership
Siemens and IFS have formed a joint venture centered around advancing industrial performance through technological evolution. By merging digital and physical realities, the collaboration enables manufacturers to design with purposeful intentionality, ultimately fostering a higher level of innovation.
While Siemens maintains its leadership position in automation, engineering, industrial AI, and manufacturing execution, IFS specialises in enterprise asset management, field service and industrial AI. This synergy allows manufacturers to optimise factory operations and address critical issues such as supply chain disruption, siloed production data, disconnected maintenance schedules and unplanned downtime.
The collaboration will create an integrated closed-loop Digital Twin by combining IFS solutions with Siemens' Digital Twin technology which is a virtual representation of physical products, processes, or systems. Designed to track service records, manage simulations, and improve factory execution, this system offers a scalable solution for the wider industrial sector.
Furthermore, it facilitates improved communication throughout the entire manufacturing process, focusing on essential factors such as the extended value of equipment, protected margins and plant floor protection for employees.
Executive leaders provide context
Tony Hemmelgarn, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Digital Industries Software, says: “Industrial AI only delivers value when it is grounded in both engineering intent and real-world performance,”

“Together with IFS, we are bringing these domains together by connecting design, manufacturing and asset lifecycle data in a secure, contextualised data fabric.
"By converging our combined strengths in industrial AI, together we will empower our customers with our vision of an executable Digital Twin that will enable them to accelerate innovation with confidence.”
Mark Moffat, Chief Executive Officer of IFS, adds: “Manufacturers need their factory floor to behave the way it was designed. This partnership with Siemens brings together two companies that each own a critical piece of the puzzle. Agentic AI is the critical frontier, and industrial leaders need solutions with closed loop models and data, and a rich set of context that will not hallucinate in active operations.

“By combining our collective strengths in Industrial AI, we can help manufacturers close the loop between design and reality, and unlock real, measurable performance gains.”
Other procurement partnerships
In 2025, Siemens entered into a procurement relationship with Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering & Construction Group to generate infrastructure solutions.
The partnership is under the 'ONE Tech Company' model which brings Siemens Smart Infrastructure and Digital Industries portfolio, with Samsung C&T's EPC expertise into a sole delivery method.
Stephan May, CEO of Electrification and Automation at Siemens, says: “This partnership marks an important step in our mission to redefine how next-generation infrastructure is designed and delivered.
