SAP's Muhammad Alam on AI boosting procurement resilience
Explaining some of the functionality of the SAP Spend Control Tower to Procurement Magazine, Alam explains the value that AI technology can bring to visibility, risk management and resilience.
“As long as that data can be translated into the canonical shape of that unified data model, the insights and the AI would just work out of the box for you,” says Alam. “It's a big step because a lot of the customers, if not all the customers, are looking for resiliency, resiliency in their supply chain and in their operations, and you don't really get resiliency unless you have visibility in terms of what you're doing.”
The Spend Control Tower developments also help to lay the foundations for future progressions in their architecture for the future.
“We're going to continue to add more data, both from an internal sources, but certainly from an external perspective as well, external data sources with our partners to enrich it, to then drive real-time insights to the businesses in terms of what's going on,” he adds. “So while it's a huge step forward, and I think organisations today will get a tremendous amount of value from it, our excitement and our roadmap and our vision for it is actually much longer than the runway we've covered.”
