The Man Who Transformed Deliverooâs Procurement
When Rob Turner joined Deliveroo as Chief Procurement Officer, procurement wasn’t delivering the value the fastâmoving food delivery giant needed. With 30 years of experience in roles spanning consulting, procurement and operations, Rob set out to transform governance, processes and technology – and do it at pace.
Rob brings 30 years of procurement and operations experience, having worked in manufacturing operations before moving into procurement in 2001 with PepsiCo. His first CPO role with Tarmac gave him the platform to lead procurement and supply chain M&A activity, including a joint venture with Lafarge. This path led him to become one of the youngest CPOs in the FTSE 250 of the time. Later, he led procurement transformation at John Lewis, including a full-scale digital and operating model change with Coupa, before later building the procurement capability of the Amazon Fresh store programme.
Over the course of 13 months, he led a dual track transformation of Deliveroo’s cost and source to pay functions. The digital transformation embedded compliance into workflows, simplified processes and embraced bestâpractice outâofâtheâbox design, avoiding costly overâcustomisation. The cost transformation fast-tracked savings delivery.
Working with partners including PwC, KPMG, Coupa and Rossum, Rob’s team combined rapid costâout delivery with a digital ecosystem spanning intake, sourcing, contracts, P2P and payments. The result is £53m in cumulative savings, improved adoption and earlier involvement in strategic decisions.
Having contributed to the improvement in Deliveroo’s financial results, 2026 will see Rob focus on embedding change, harnessing AI and unlocking intelligent orchestration – shifting procurement from transactional tasks to proactive value creation.
