How Tonkean is Revolutionising Procurement
Founded in 2015, Tonkean is an AI-powered process orchestration platform that works behind the scenes to help procurement teams build processes ‘people actually follow.’
Tonkean’s Co-Founder and CEO, Sagi Eliyahu, explains how the company’s AI-powered solutions empower shared-service teams to improve user adoption—including that of P2P platforms like Coupa—and increase process efficiency, all while reducing the burdens of change management.
“It's meant for non-professional buyers to go to, to guide them through the steps that keep them in the process and keep them compliant,” Sagi explains.
“We have a lot of Fortune 500 companies using us for everything from purchase intake to invoice intake. Because we leverage the tech stack, policies and processes that a company already has in place to bring the value of adoption, speed and compliance up without a lot of change.”
Revolutionising “archaic” procurement processes
Tonkean seeks to modernise and unify internal procurement processes, which are typically complex and difficult to follow. The goal is to create processes that emulate the consumer experience.
“Internal employees make purchases that come with great urgency and importance. Yet, the processes and technologies that they experience are pretty archaic. There’s lots of red tape,” he added
Tonkean’s partnership with Coupa, a leading cloud-based spend management platform, demonstrates how augmenting P2P platforms with intake orchestration technology can address this issue.
Sagi explains the partnership is successful because of their unique, differing focuses within the industry, “The Venn diagram of what we [Tonkean and Coupa] do is very small as we focus on different areas of that process.”
Room for growth
Tonkean aims to grow into the large market enabled by its Coupa partnership. Believing its intake orchestration is a must-have for existing Coupa customers to consistently create real business value from within the procurement department.
“I see no reason why this will not continue to be successful for many years,” Sagi concludes.
