Icertis is a global leader in AI-powered contract intelligence.
The solutions provider is revolutionising contract management, equipping customers with powerful insights and automation to grow revenue, control costs, mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with its services.
Trusted by more than a third of Fortune 100 companies, Icertis has released its latest ‘2025 ProcureCon Chief Procurement Officer Report’ in partnership with ProcureCon Insights.
An annual survey, the reportās primary finding was that 90% of procurement leaders have considered or are already using AI agents to optimise operations in the year ahead. In addition, 40% of CPOs are looking to drive value for their enterprises beyond cost savings by turning to advanced analytics and AI.
By embracing these transformational technologies, procurement is advancing its influence on enterprise profitability and capturing opportunities to directly impact commercial outcomes through contracts.
Bernadette Bulacan, Chief Evangelist, Icertis., says: āGlobal commerce is comprised of relationships between customers and suppliers, each embodied in a contract that starts at the negotiation table in procurement.
"With AI agents, procurement teams have tremendous potential to action smarter decisions about those relationships and ensure optimal commercial outcomes for all parties.
āBy automating complex contracting tasks at scale while keeping financial goals at the forefront, these agents will fundamentally transform the foundation of commerce in 2025, empowering enterprises to realise the full potential of every relationship and bringing data-driven strategies to life across core functions like procurement, legal and finance.ā
CPOs prepare for an unstoppable year ahead
For many CPOs in 2025, reducing risk and diversifying the supplier base (40%), managing supply chain disruptions and volatility (36%) and addressing inflationary pressures and cost increases (35%) are among the top five challenges anticipated in the year ahead.
Another challenge will be the continuation of reducing maverick spend. While 64% have improved their spend in the last 12 months, 62% report that their ROI has stayed the same or worsened.
Icertis notes that this highlights an urgent need for the partnership of AI to help optimise contract terms and automate the inclusion of revenue drivers in every contract.
Further expanding on AIās value, Icertis reports that leveraging AI in procurement processes and decision-making (66%) and improving speed-to-value and ROI (55%) were the top two priorities for leaders ā both above ESG, sustainability and improving compliance.
The report indicates that AI partnerships will be critical to overcoming adoption barriers such as integration issues (88%) and data quality issues (75%).
āWeāre witnessing a substantial shift in the procurement function from reactive to proactive as CPOs look to anticipate challenges and build resilience for their businesses with new strategies and technologies,ā adds Chris Rand, Head of Research, ProcureCon Insights.
“The next generation of leaders is not only embracing AI, but demanding a tech-first approach to sourcing and contracting processes that welcomes AI as a coworker in the ongoing race to capture more revenue.”
