Coupa introduces 100+ new features to help businesses improve supplier collaboration, streamline procurement and gain better visibility into spending

Managing procurement and spend efficiently is critical for businesses looking to scale and remain competitive, a trend Coupa is taking full advantage of with the launch of more than 100 new features to optimise business spend management.

These updates focus on improving operational efficiency, enhancing supplier collaboration and providing greater visibility and control over company finances.

With procurement teams facing increasing pressures to do more with less, Coupa's latest innovations offer smarter, faster and more agile solutions.

Transforming procurement with standardisation and visibility

For businesses experiencing rapid growth, fragmented financial processes can hinder efficiency and decision-making.

ESL FACEIT Group (EFG), a global e-sports company formed from the merger of ESL and FACEIT, encountered these challenges first-hand.

The Group's VP of Global Procurement, Thomas Brill, explains that the company initially prioritised product development over financial processes, making it difficult to access accurate spending data.

To resolve this, EFG implemented Coupa’s Business Spend Management platform. This provided the company with a unified global process, ensuring consistent procurement workflows and crucial visibility into company-wide spending.

"Agility is key for us to work together with our suppliers," adds Thomas.

"Coupa fits in here perfectly for us. It supports this agile workflow that we need. They are very slick, flexible in all the requirements that we have and really help us if we have a challenge. Invoicing and the purchase-to-pay process at 99%."

Coupa’s agility proved essential for supplier relationships as the platform’s ability to support flexible workflows and accommodate unique requirements allowed EFG to streamline procurement.

Buyers could now easily select catalogued items or preferred suppliers with pre-negotiated pricing, ensuring compliance with purchasing agreements.

Enhancing supplier collaboration and efficiency

Coupa continues to refine its platform, introducing new features to strengthen supplier engagement and operational efficiency.

Key advancements include:

  • Supply Chain Collaboration – Reducing offline confirmations with partial confirmations and integrated task management, accelerating response times and improving buyer productivity.
  • Services Maestro – Enhancing supplier engagement for services procurement through self-service capabilities, better visibility and improved compliance tracking.

By simplifying processes and reducing risks, these innovations enable businesses to foster stronger relationships with suppliers, ultimately driving greater efficiency and cost savings.

Salvatore Lombardo, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Coupa, emphasises the company’s vision for a fully autonomous spend management system: "Every product release brings us closer to Coupa’s vision of a fully-autonomous spend management future.

"Agentic AI will play a central role in making our collaborative global trade network grow. The innovations in our latest release sharpen our direct spend capabilities for customers, improving how both buyers and suppliers connect and collaborate, transact and grow their business."

AI-driven insights for better decision-making

Leveraging AI and automation, Coupa's Total Spend Management platform enables organisations to make smarter and faster decisions. New AI-driven enhancements include:

  • Contract Intelligence – Using AI to analyse contract language, extract key details and improve compliance with configurable rules.
  • Rapid Network Explorer – Speeding up supply chain scenario analysis by quickly filtering low-impact scenarios, improving decision-making and significantly reducing processing time.

Early adopters of Rapid Network Explorer have reported major improvements, reducing scenario analysis from hours to minutes. This acceleration helps businesses prioritise meaningful changes and respond swiftly to supply chain challenges.

For EFG, one of the most significant procurement metrics was the percentage of spend covered by a purchase order.

Before Coupa, only 20-25% of purchases followed a structured purchase-to-pay process. With Coupa, this figure rose to 99% globally.

The transition to a cloud-based, user-friendly procurement system facilitated rapid adoption across the company.

Thomas' team has felt three main benefits of Coupa’s platform: improved visibility, reliable cost approvals and stronger compliance. The streamlined process also received positive feedback from auditors, reinforcing its value in maintaining financial discipline.

EFG’s broader objective is to turn procurement into a profit-driving function, recognising that effective spend management plays a critical role in overall profitability.

Coupa has become a vital tool for EFG, enabling seamless global operations and ensuring every purchase aligns with strategic financial goals.
