Meet Michelle Shi-Verdaasdon, Electrolux Group's New CPO
Michelle Shi-Verdaasdonk has been announced as the Chief Procurement Officer for the Electrolux Group. Effective from 9 December, Michelle will be responsible for the procurement strategy of direct and indirect materials, logistic services and product sourcing.
She will report to Electrolux Group's CEO and be part of Group management.
"It's great to be back"
The new CPO comes from Dyson, where her most recent position was Chief Supply Chain Officer, where she led the end-to-end supply chain of the Dyson global network.
Prior to that, she worked as Group Director for Global Manufacturing and Procurement at Dyson. She was also responsible for global quality and manufacturing at Signify.
"It's great to be back," says Michelle. "I'm looking forward to leveraging my experience to drive impactful results, while contributing to the success and growth of the Group, especially at a time when cost competitiveness and supply resilience have been greatly impacting our industry. I approach this dynamic environment with determination and innovative thinking."
Trained as an aerospace engineer originally, Michelle's work is well known and she is a recognised global supply chain leader as well as a passionate advocate of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
Continue to grow and innovate
"Michelle's expertise, experience and vision will be invaluable to the Group as we continue to grow and innovate," adds Electrolux Group CEO, Jonas Samuelson.
"Her appointment was a collaborative effort with Yannick Fierling, our incoming CEO - and together we are confident in Michelle's abilities to balance cost, quality and efficiency. She has a proven track record of navigating complex supply chains and building strong partnerships and we wish her a warm welcome to Electrolux Group."
Pioneering better sustainable practices
Electrolux is one of the world's leading home appliance manufacturers and is known for its commitment to sustainability. In 2024, the company announced how it aims to pioneer better sustainable practices across its supply chain for both itself and partners, as it works with them to support the transition into new practice.
Speaking earlier in the year, Elena Breda, Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer for Electrolux Group, said: "We have developed a new target to keep up the momentum on driving climate action throughout our value chain.
"Our new science-based climate target aims to reduce the group's emissions from operations (scope 1 and 2) by 85% and emissions mainly from products sold (scope 3) by 42% between 2021 and 2030. Our new target was approved by the Science Based Targets initiative at the end of 2023."
The new target is aligned with the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit average global temperature rises to 1.5°C this century to avoid the most severe impacts of climate change. Electrolux Group was also recognised as one of the World's Most Sustainable Companies in TIME's inaugural sustainability ranking.
The company ranked 89 out of the 500 companies from around the world that made the list. The world's 5,000 leading companies, from various sectors, went through a rigorous assessment process.
TIME explains that the companies at the top of the list (including Electrolux) have signed on to some of the most respected climate programs including the 1.5°C target from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), received high scores from CDP and have incorporated sustainability into their business models.
