'Bigger and bolder' innovation
Kirsten began her presentation by describing the traditional systems she finds inadequate when it comes to meeting the dynamic demands of the modern market.
She explained that, despite significant investments in technology, many businesses still operate with fragmented and outdated processes, as highlighted during the pandemic when supply chain disruptions became a glaring issue.
Instead, Kirsten emphasised the need for a more ambitious approach to business transformation, advocating for AI-driven platforms such as ServiceNow.
"ServiceNow believes it's time to think a bit bigger and bolder by embracing an AI-driven platform for a truly transformative journey," she said.
Kirsten explained the limitations of current technology, which has been patched up over time instead of completely reimagined.
"The limitations of data technology, often cobbled together, have become very evident," she continued. "What you see on the screen is what the vast majority of my customers will describe to me: a difficult landscape, often acquired, not so much desired, with systems that are older than the average age of your employees."
Kirsten went on to explain that these systems were originally designed for control and record-keeping, not for the dynamic, fast-paced environments businesses operate in today – resulting in frustration among younger users.
She noted: "Our business processes are still broken, despite the myriad of technology that we have all deployed in the past."
Instead, ServiceNow proposes a "bold" shift towards an AI-powered platform to bridge these gaps, streamline operations and foster innovation, a move aimed at creating a cohesive, efficient business environment capable of adapting to future challenges and ultimately enhance profitability and growth.
Automation revolutionises Dropbox's finance workflow
Kirsten elaborated on how ServiceNow is revolutionising finance and supply chain workflows through comprehensive digital transformation.
She emphasised the need to digitise end-to-end processes: "We think it's time to break free from the constraints of those data systems you have and truly digitise your entire end-to-end process at a pace that many legacy systems simply cannot match.
"With the ServiceNow platform, you have the ability to bring all of the various different stakeholders and procurement together to collaborate."
She highlighted one major company using ServiceNow in the form of Dropbox, which saw employees utilise a user-friendly portal to make procurement requests, simplifying and streamlining the entire process.
This transformation allowed Dropbox to automate more than 1,000 ERP and risk assessment processes, significantly enhancing compliance and reducing procurement cycle times.
Kirsten pointed out that ServiceNow's modular approach allows organisations such as Dropbox to address specific challenges incrementally, proving the platform's value quickly without needing to overhaul entire systems.
This strategic implementation of AI and automation underpins the company's commitment to ongoing organisational transformation and value creation.
