Procurement & Supply Chain Live: Soroosh Saghiri

By Helen Adams
Senior lecturer in procurement and supply chain, Soroosh Saghiri, brought his wide expertise in the supply markets to Procurement & Supply Chain Live

Soroosh Saghiri has taught as a procurement and supply chain senior lecturer across the world, from Kedge Business School in France, Warwick University in England, Universität Witten in Germany, Meiji University, in Japan and Renmin University of China.

This September, Saghiri explored the modern complexities and new norms in supply chain and procurement at BizClik Media’s Procurement & Supply Chain Live.

The future of procurement

In supply chain and procurement, Saghiri says understanding the past can help us forecast the future.

“We know that the future is not necessarily repeating the past”, he explained.

The future of global supply management will involve a mixture of innovation, talent management and e-business.

Following on from the recent supply chain disruptions, Saghiri believes that this will push procurement teams towards more dependable local and regional suppliers, in order to meet customer expectations.

Complexities and improving supply chain

“Uncertainties and these complexities show the overall environment we are in:

  • Customer expectations
  • The complexity of data and information
  • Processes
  • The product itself
  • The organisation
  • The suppliers.”

One data element which is growing increasingly popular, is the carbon footprint of a product, for customers seeking to reduce their Scope 3 emissions.

Saghiri concluded by discussing the importance of agility and resilience in the procurement and supply chain industries.

“Be ready for other changes”, he warned
