AI and Supplier Management Strategies Unveiled at Ivalua NOW

Ivalua NOW 2025 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans resumed with pivotal discussions focusing on smarter systems and cleaner data, emphasising their importance for procurement effectiveness.
The integration of generative AI and automation into procurement processes promises enhanced efficiency and improved decision-making capabilities for organisations.
Yet, the tangible benefits are just beginning to unfold for many enterprises.
Supplier information management transformation
Pascal Bensoussan, Chief Product Officer at Ivalua, who has almost 25 years of experience in enterprise SaaS product strategy, highlighted the significant advancements set to arrive with a major platform update focused on supplier information management.
"This is about a year-and-a-half, almost two years of work," he announced. "The consecration of that work is an announcement we're going to make in the summer or later in June about advanced supplier information management.”
This improvement aims to consolidate ERP records and supplier profiles into a comprehensive view, supported by AI and third-party data integration, ultimately leading to a streamlined and reliable supplier management system.
Pascal further elaborated: “At the end of the day, it’s all about having a supplier base that is really clean, that is reliable and can be thought of as a source of truth. The system of record for your company and not just for procurement.”
This holistic approach ensures that procurement is not working in silos but as part of an integrated company strategy.
The introduction of AI agents marks another forward step in procurement innovation. These agents are designed to transcend basic chatbot interfaces, offering functionalities like contract drafting using historical company language, assisting users through support inquiries and performing conversational analytics on spend data.
Focus on automation and compliance
The session, titled 'Driving Profitability and Agility in Today’s Dynamic Market', zeroed in on automation’s role within procurement.
Gaurav Saini, Chief Procurement Officer at Manulife, explained how the company is channelling efforts into digital transformation and efficient procurement strategies.
He remarked: "We've invested over a billion dollars in transforming ourselves to be a digital leader including AI," underlining the significant shift from a previously underdeveloped and decentralised procurement setup to a streamlined and strategically aligned unit.
Manulife’s integration of Ivalua and other systems like Archer and Workday has facilitated extensive vendor onboarding and contract management, transforming its procurement landscape.
Gaurav said: "Procurement was fundamentally a little bit of an ignored function before." However, with the selection of Ivalua’s platform, they achieved comprehensive S2P integration.
He valued Ivalua’s leadership team for their understanding of the company’s procurement challenges.
Innovation in procurement practices
A Shark Tank-style innovation showcase at the event demonstrated new Ivalua products aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing cycle times across various processes.
One particular solution addressed the perennial issue of understanding workflow initiation in workplaces, enhancing visibility and efficiency. Pascal stated that he "loved the fact that employees can just get started with a simple conversation."
Other innovative pitches included solutions for supplier onboarding, AI-driven agents like 'procure GPT' and contract intelligence, all catering to evolving procurement needs.
This interactive element of Ivalua NOW 2025 not only highlighted cutting-edge technological advancements, but also underscored the necessity for adaptable and forward-thinking procurement strategies within modern enterprises.
