A technological advancement in inventory management

NomadGo positions itself as a leader in Inventory AI, focusing on minimising human errors in inventory management. Its innovative technology, Spatial Vision, merges on-device 3D spatial intelligence with computer vision and augmented reality for enhanced data capture and processing.

This allows businesses to conduct swift and highly accurate inventory audits using just a smartphone or tablet.

The introduction of this technology at Starbucks is expected to streamline operational processes significantly. Given the high volume of customers that Starbucks serves daily, maintaining efficient operations is critical to customer satisfaction.

"The deployment of NomadGo’s Inventory AI across Starbucks owned and operated coffeehouses in North America is a strong validation of our patented technology," says David Greschler, CEO of NomadGo.

"Our technology not only streamlines inventory management but also delivers frequent, highly accurate data that prevents out-of-stock situations and lowers cost of goods sold. Businesses can now match supply to demand with unprecedented precision."

Elevating operational efficiency

The traditional manual inventory processes are not only labor-intensive but have historically provided an accuracy range of only 80-85%.

This outdated method diverts resources away from other vital areas and increases the risk of inventory mismanagement.

NomadGo's AI system provides instantaneous feedback that minimises discrepancies, allowing Starbucks staff to concentrate efforts on more strategic responsibilities.

Spatial Vision’s technology expedites inventory checks by allowing employees to swiftly scan entire shelves, significantly reducing time spent on manual counting.

David adds: "Our proprietary, patented technology makes the jobs of all our customers easier. From the in-store employee conducting the count, to the CFO seeking savings through a smarter and automated supply chain."

Ensuring customer satisfaction

Starbucks aims to leverage NomadGo's AI capabilities to refine its procurement processes, ensuring purchase orders are more accurate and aligned with actual demand.

The AI's precision mitigates the risk of overstocking or stock shortages, thus enhancing customer trust and loyalty through reliable product availability.

Starbucks will also benefit from reduced waste, as its supply chain processes become more tightly controlled. Accurate inventory data means fewer expired goods, particularly important for a business dealing with perishable items.

Deb Hall Lefevre, Starbucks Chief Technology Officer

The advancement is not just about technology for its own sake, as expressed by Deb Hall Lefevre, Chief Technology Officer at Starbucks: "At Starbucks, technology isn’t about bells and whistles — it’s about creating meaningful efficiencies that preserve and strengthen craft and connection.

"With automated counting, we’re delivering both a better experience for partners and a more consistent, delightful experience for every customer who walks through our doors."

The integration of Inventory AI into all Starbucks locations is anticipated to be complete by September 2025, illustrating a significant focus on enhancing operational capabilities through advanced procurement solutions.
