Elite procurement teams thriving amid uncertainty

Every week, dozens of stories spotlight how procurement teams are helping their companies overcome a barrage of challenges.

Take The Hackett Group's 2025 Digital World Class Procurement research, which reveals that top-performing procurement organisations are thriving amid uncertainty by redefining their enterprise role and embracing volatility as an opportunity.

While most companies have frozen spending to preserve cash and protect margins due to ongoing uncertainty, elite procurement teams are achieving exceptional results. These standout organisations deliver 2.6 times higher ROI than their peers while operating with 31% fewer staff and 19% lower costs relative to spend.

Their success stems from intelligence-driven operating models and strategic adoption of technologies like generative AI, enabling faster execution and greater strategic impact when opportunities arise.

Elsewhere, Coupa's annual Total Spend Management Benchmark Report offers five insights derived from its US$8tn in cumulative global spend data.

It highlights how high-performing organisations are not simply dealing with disruption, but thriving.

The report is built on anonymised activity from more than 10 million customers, buyers and suppliers across the Coupa platform. It reveals the behaviours and strategies that consistently set high performers apart, offering a blueprint for smarter, more resilient spend management.
