Procurement has shifted from cost gatekeeper to driver of strategic value.

It now secures supply, manages inflation and currency exposure and protects margins through disciplined sourcing. With a clear view of supplier ecosystems, it brings new ideas into the business, advances sustainability and speeds time to market.

Robust governance with partners reduces operational, cyber and ESG risk while maintaining compliance. Modern platforms reveal spend, contracts and patterns that inform planning.

Working across functions, procurement aligns specifications with total cost and lifecycle impact. In downturns it safeguards cash and continuity; in expansion it scales capacity with control.

This blend of resilience, insight and influence strengthens competitiveness and sustains long-term value.

The partnership advantage

Joselina specialises in using data analytics, breakthrough innovation and strategic ecosystem partnerships to build agile, scalable operations that create competitive advantage.

At Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE Chicago 2025, she delivered a fascinating keynote, The Partnership Advantage: Why CPO Should Stand for Chief Partnership Officer.

"When you think about legacy procurement, it was actually built to standardise cost, to actually make sure that you minimise risk," said Joselina. "It was a function of finance. It was actually not necessarily designed to build trust.

"The world has changed dramatically since the pandemic to now: volatility with tariffs; instability with climate; we have geopolitical issues everywhere. It's a landmine. So, if you put all of that in the right focus, at the end of the day, nobody can actually do it alone.

"So, the next currency in the future is not tech, it's not even geographical advantage – it's actually partnership.

"It doesn't matter if you have the right advantage geographically or technologically. Without having the right people to actually co-invest in your business, you cannot move unless your ecosystem moves with you and for you."

Building trust

At PSC LIVE London, join Joselina for a keynote presentation on procurement's crucial role in supply chain partnerships.

The session, It’s Not a Tech Problem - It’s a Partnership Problem. And Procurement Can Fix It, will examine how procurement can truly become a strategic partner to the enterprise.

"Technology alone won’t transform your supply chain," adds Joselina.

"The real shift happens when procurement moves from transaction manager to strategic partner, building the trust, intelligence and ecosystems that turn disruption into competitive advantage."

Head to the Supply Chain Stage at 12.15pm on Day 1 (23 September) of the event to enjoy Joselina's presentation.
