Paysend and Visa grow their partnership to bring faster, more transparent cross-border payments to businesses through an expanded API programme

Paysend is deepening its collaboration with Visa by rolling out a new programme that places its Enterprise API in the hands of Visa’s network of merchants and collaborators across North America.

The development brings a sharper focus on how cross-border payment technology helps procurement teams make smarter, faster financial decisions across borders.

By offering a streamlined technology interface that plugs directly into a business’s own system, Paysend's Enterprise API allows for seamless integration of payment tools, giving businesses more control over how they manage supplier payments, reconcile transactions and handle international money transfers.

With the backing of Visa’s network, the new programme aims to deliver real-time, transparent payments that help businesses reduce friction and boost operational efficiency.

Visa merchants gain access to Paysend API

Since 2023, Paysend and Visa have enabled real-time money transfers to Visa debit cards in more than 100 markets and territories. The integration eliminates traditional bottlenecks in the payments process, which typically slow down the transfer of funds and increase cost through intermediaries.

Businesses using the Enterprise API can now access these capabilities directly, without having to build complex infrastructure themselves.

As explained in the announcement, "actual fund availability depends on the receiving financial institution and region,” but the infrastructure provided by Paysend and Visa improves consistency in delivery and transparency in tracking. This is particularly important for procurement functions where time-sensitive payments to international suppliers are critical to maintaining supply chain operations.

For procurement teams, the advantage is clear: embedding Paysend's payment tools into existing financial systems enables quicker supplier payouts and fewer delays, which improves cash flow management and supports healthier vendor relationships.

Businesses no longer have to rely on manual interventions or long waiting periods when moving funds between countries.

Justin Zhao, Head of Global Partnerships and Sales at Visa Direct, says: “Our ongoing collaboration with Paysend demonstrates the value of combining Visa’s global reach with innovative payment technology.

“With this next phase, we are addressing common challenges in cross-border payments and helping to set new expectations for speed, transparency, and convenience in the industry.”

Procurement teams benefit from real-time transfers

Central to the appeal of Paysend’s Enterprise API is its ability to process secure transactions in real time. This means businesses working across multiple territories can avoid delays traditionally associated with banking systems.

Whether paying an overseas manufacturer or reimbursing a service provider, procurement departments can initiate and complete transactions from within their own platforms.

Rick Castello, Head of North America Sales at Paysend, adds: "Visa has been a key strategic partner for us over the years, and this next step is a game-changer.

“By making our Enterprise API available through Visa’s network, we’re bringing instant, secure payments to even more people and businesses.

"Having the new ‘Paysend Series’ in partnership with Visa serving as the opening move in our co-branding campaign, we’re showing the world how this collaboration is reshaping the future of cross-border money movement.”

The Enterprise API doesn’t just serve multinational corporations, it is also useful for smaller enterprises aiming to scale across borders without the heavy operational lift.

By linking to Visa’s infrastructure, Paysend ensures businesses of all sizes can manage money movement with the same tools global players use.
