MTN’s New Global Sourcing & Supply Chain Exec: Andrew Savage

MTN Group has announced the appointment of Andrew Savage as Executive: Global Sourcing and Supply Chain (GSSC), effective 1 May 2026.
The move formalises a leadership transition that has been underway for several months, following his tenure in an acting capacity.
With more than two decades of experience in global sourcing and supply chain management, Andrew steps into the role at a time when procurement is increasingly central to enterprise value creation.
His appointment signals continuity in MTN’s transformation agenda, alongside a renewed focus on resilience, digitalisation and sustainability.
Leadership continuity and strategic direction
Andrew’s promotion reflects efforts made by MTN to maintain momentum in its procurement transformation journey.
Having already overseen the GSSC function in an acting role, he brings institutional knowledge and strategic consistency to the position.
His mandate is clear: strengthen the integration of sourcing and supply chain operations while aligning them more closely with the Group’s broader strategic objectives.
This includes enhancing agility across markets and ensuring procurement plays a key role in navigating global supply uncertainties and sustainable procurement practices.
“I am confident that under his leadership, procurement and supply chain will continue to be a key strategic enabler for MTN,” says Tsholofelo Molefe, MTN Group Chief Financial Officer.
Driving digital and sustainable procurement
A key hallmark of Andrew’s career has been his leadership in digital procurement transformation.
Since being a Consultant in Transformation and Operational Excellence at MTN in 2015, to his current role at Group Executive and Chief Procurement Officer, Andrew has continuously centralised efficient procurement into the company’s strategies.
From implementing eSourcing tools to advancing spend analytics and governance frameworks, he has helped modernise procurement practices across MTN’s footprint.
In his new role, he is expected to accelerate these initiatives, embedding digital capabilities that improve transparency, efficiency and decision-making.
Equally important is his focus on sustainable value creation, ensuring that procurement not only delivers cost savings but also contributes to environmental and social goals across the supply chain ecosystem.
“I’m really grateful (and a little humbled, if I’m honest) to be stepping into the role of Group Executive: GSSC-Global Sourcing and Supply Chain at MTN,” writes Andrew Savage, Executive: Global Sourcing and Supply Chain at MTN, on LinkedIn.
“I'm excited for the future; for stronger partnerships, simpler ways of work and relentless execution.”
A track record of operational excellence
Andrew’s career progression within MTN highlights his deep expertise in procurement excellence and operational transformation.
From his early work in centralising procurement across 22 countries to leading the Group’s Procurement Excellence function, he has consistently driven large-scale change initiatives.
“He is recognised for a collaborative and people-centred leadership style and for his ability to connect people, processes and technology to deliver measurable impact,” writes MTN.
As he steps into this executive role, that blend of technical expertise and stakeholder engagement will be critical in building a resilient, future-ready supply chain for MTN.
