Amazon Business has formed a partnership with Mathnasium Tutoring to streamline supply sourcing while maintaining flexibility, speed and oversight

Mathnasium Tutoring, a major US-based maths tutoring franchise with no fewer than 1,000 locations, has adopted Amazon Business to oversee procurement processes across its operations.

The decision aligns with Mathnasium's objective to streamline supply sourcing while maintaining flexibility, speed and oversight.

As the business procurement division of Amazon, Amazon Business enables organisations to buy from a wide pool of suppliers using a platform built on familiar e-commerce functions, adapted for enterprise use.

Since its 2015 launch in the US, Amazon Business has served more than eight million customers globally and achieved US$35bn in annualised gross sales in 2023. It counts 96 of the Fortune 100, 66 of the FTSE 100 and 38 of the DAX-40 among its client base, positioning it as a major procurement partner for both multinationals and smaller organisations alike.

Aligning education supply chains with procurement efficiency

Mathnasium’s centres depend on quick access to consumables like notepads, pens, printer toner and student reward items.

Using Amazon Business, the franchise can source these products reliably through one interface, ensuring timely restocking without requiring extensive management overhead.

“At Mathnasium, we know that confidence in the classroom starts with support behind the scenes,” explains Aimee Mack, Regional Vice President for New Centre Openings at Mathnasium.

“That’s why we rely on Amazon Business for our business purchasing needs—so we can spend less time managing supplies and more time empowering students.”

Through automated workflows and consolidated shipping options, Amazon Business addresses two prominent procurement concerns across education providers: consistent delivery and administrative efficiency. This simplifies day-to-day operations at each centre, freeing up staff to focus on teaching instead of inventory checks.

Business-ready functionality across multi-site operations

Amazon Business adapts its consumer interface to meet the operational needs of complex organisations. Procurement managers can create multi-user accounts, build custom approval chains and centralise invoicing, thus saving time and improving visibility over distributed spending across multiple sites.

By consolidating deliveries and offering tax-exempt purchasing options where applicable, Amazon Business helps organisations reduce unnecessary inventory disruptions. For Mathnasium, this ensures educators maintain access to teaching materials without pause.

Brenda Spoonemore, Vice President at Amazon Business

Brenda Spoonemore, Vice President at Amazon Business, says: “The equation is simple: trusted selection plus fast delivery equals more time for students.

"By using Amazon Business, Mathnasium is subtracting procurement headaches and replacing them with a streamlined, scalable approach. It’s a formula that adds up for educators, and one we’re proud to stand behind.”

Procurement teams also benefit from analytics and automated reporting tools to improve how spending is tracked and managed. These controls are especially critical in decentralised franchises or education networks with multiple locations requiring both autonomy and oversight.

Platform flexibility backed by AI

Amazon Business combines procurement tools with AI-powered analytics, applying Amazon’s machine learning capabilities to enterprise buying decisions. These features include data analysis dashboards, spend monitoring tools and Guided Buying, a feature that allows procurement leaders to set purchasing rules in line with company policy.

Rather than relying on basic e-commerce adaptation, Amazon Business presents itself as a procurement-specific solution built with strategic sourcing in mind. It aims to turn business buying from a simple transactional process into a controlled, insight-led operation.

The Business Prime membership extends this with access to free shipping on millions of items, plus advanced analytics functions that can support cost control efforts across teams. As Mathnasium’s purchasing needs scale alongside its growth, these procurement tools allow it to maintain both speed and compliance.

For procurement professionals, this case demonstrates how B2B platforms originally designed for broad user bases are now being shaped to deliver enterprise-specific outcomes. Amazon Business’s role in Mathnasium’s supply chain marks a wider shift where procurement teams seek cloud-based platforms with built-in intelligence and operational features—not just product access.
