How Expansion is Empowering The LEGO Group's Growth

LEGO Group has accomplished impressive growth in the first half of 2025, not only financially but also in its supply chain strategies.
With increasing demand for their products, the company has soared to become the leading toy manufacturer, particularly dominant in Western Europe and the CEEMEA regions.
Strategic investment has been a cornerstone for LEGO’s plans, ensuring they remain ahead in both immediate and long-term procurement goals.
Expanding product portfolio
LEGO's first half of 2025 saw a robust increase in profits and revenues, powered in part by its extensive introduction of new products, launching 314 new LEGO sets, a record for the company.
This expansion caters to a broad demographic with varied interests, spanning across nearly all thematic possibilities. The diverse product line includes popular series like the LEGO® Botanicals and the vibrant partnership with Formula 1 for Grand Prix-themed sets.
Moreover, the eagerly anticipated LEGO® Pokémon series is set to launch in 2026, highlighting a strong collaboration with The Pokémon Company. Initiatives like the "She Built That" campaign are also designed to inspire and engage a broader audience.
Niels B Christiansen, CEO of LEGO Group, says: “We are very pleased to have maintained our strong performance in the first half of 2025, winning share in the global toy market. This growth is driven by our large and innovative range of products that continues to be relevant across ages and interests.
“With the solid financial foundation we have built over several years, we continue to invest in capacity expansions and strategic initiatives that fuel our growth. Above all, the results reflect the enduring dedication and passion of our more than 31,000 colleagues around the world who have stayed focused on reaching more children with inspiring LEGO play experiences.”
Global supply chain developments
The LEGO Group’s expansion efforts include substantial investments in global supply chain advancements. A key development in April was the inauguration of its high-tech manufacturing plant in Vietnam, occupying 150,000 square miles, aimed at stabilising market growth within the Asia-Pacific region.
Alongside, substantial investments like the US $1.5bn into a new factory and a regional distribution centre in Virginia underscore the company’s significant presence in North America. Expansions in existing facilities in Mexico and Hungary further boost their production capabilities.
LEGO's expansion includes a strategic increase in retail presence with the opening of 24 new stores, increasing their global footprint to 1,079 stores across 54 markets, enhancing the consumer experience and accessibility of their brand.
- Revenue grew 12% to DKK 34.6bn (US$5.4bn)
- Consumer sales increased by 13%
- Operating profit increased 10% to DKK 9bn (US$1.4bn)
- Net profit grew 10% to DKK 6.5bn (US$1bn)
Commitment to sustainability
In alignment with their supply chain growth, LEGO remains focused on reducing environmental impact through sustainable practices.
COO, Carsten Rasmussen, says: "We opened LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam in April, our sixth, most environmentally sustainable factory to date.
"We are also on track to have 60% of all materials purchased by the end of 2025 produced with sustainable sources."
LEGO’s material innovation includes replacing conventional materials with more sustainable alternatives like rSEBS, derived from recycling fishing nets and engine oils and e-methanol for more rigid LEGO pieces.
Such initiatives play a crucial role in LEGO's commitment to a sustainable supply chain, reflecting a comprehensive approach to environmental responsibility.
Niels adds: "Children and their parents rightly expect us to play our part in shaping a more sustainable future. We remain fully focussed on our mission to inspire and develop children everywhere – which includes ensuring that future generations inherit a healthy planet.
"We are privileged to be in a strong position to deliver on this mission – investing significantly in sustainable growth now and for the future.”
This robust strategy enables LEGO to maintain its leading position while ensuring its development positively impacts the planet.
