Rujul Zaparde, co-founder and CEO of Zip, says putting down roots in New York is how the company will stay close to customers and talent shaping the future

Zip, a leading AI platforms for enterprise procurement, has announced the opening of its New York City hub in Chelsea – with plans to double the team there over the next year.

Zip, which is trusted by companies including Anthropic, Prudential, OpenAI, Dollar Tree and T-Mobile, is growing its East Coast customer base and its commitment to a market that is central to enterprise technology and AI talent.

Zip also believes this move reflects accelerating demand as procurement becomes a top priority for Fortune 500 buyers.

ā€œSan Francisco built the foundation models. New York is where they meet the enterprise,ā€ says Rujul Zaparde, co-founder and CEO of Zip.

ā€œWith the largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the country, plus the capital and talent base to match, this is where applied AI actually gets adopted at scale. Putting down real roots here is how we stay close to the customers and the talent shaping what's next.ā€

A new base in the heart of Chelsea

The hub, which is homed inside the former Twitter/xAI building, will be located in a neighbourhood that has long anchored New York's technology and media ecosystem, and one that is increasingly becoming a centre of gravity for AI.

The tri-state area has become Zip's second-largest customer market globally, home to some of the world's most sophisticated financial services, enterprise technology and media organisations, which includes The New York Times, Two Sigma Investments and Prudential.

The new NYC office will serve as a unified hub, bringing Zip's diverse talent across sales, customer success, engineering, product, design, marketing and G&A together under one roof to foster deeper collaboration and innovation.

Governance built into the workflow

It is another piece of news breaking in the Big Apple from Zip, as earlier this year, at its AI Summit in New York, the company announced Zip Superagents and Zip Model Context Protocol (MCP), designed to securely automate complex procurement tasks.

By running AI natively within a governed procurement layer, Zip allows organisations to execute actual workflows without sacrificing compliance or security.

Lu Cheng, co-founder and CTO at Zip, speaking at the time of announcement, said: ā€œAfter working with hundreds of enterprises, including the world's leading AI companies, we've learned that this kind of work is already happening, with or without governance.

ā€œEven the companies building AI themselves want this work governed. They want the audit trail. They want the controls. They want the integrations to their systems of record. And they want to make sure their employees aren't uploading sensitive financial, contract and customer data into general-purpose AI.

ā€œThat's why we built Zip's orchestration layer the way we did over the past five years, so that AI doesn't just operate alongside enterprise procurement, but inside it, where every action is governed and auditable.ā€

Growth figures and industry recognition

Zip continues to redefine the procurement landscape with massive global growth and industry-leading validation. To date, the company has orchestrated more than US$500bn in spend across hundreds of premier global enterprises, while its AI suite has helped customers collectively save more than US$10bn.

A recent Forrester Total Economic Impact study further underscores this value, finding that Zip delivers a staggering 386% ROI for large enterprises and pays for itself in less than six months.

Zip was also named a Visionary in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Source-to-Pay Suites, making it the youngest company ever to earn this distinction.
