How PepsiCo is Progressing on Sustainable Sourcing Goals

PepsiCo is celebrating success with its 2030 Positive Agriculture goals, having seen significant progress across its sourcing and practises.
As organisations recognise the importance of responsibility across their value chain, they are beginning to implement change.
PepsiCo implemented its programme to drive improvements to livelihoods and advance restorative practises across its supplier base, with results already being visible.
The Positive Agriculture plan
PepsiCo relies on more than 50 crops and ingredients which are grown across 61 countries, so healthy soil is essential to the company's success. The global food system faces challenges through growing demand, soil degradation, water scarcity, increasing climate pressures and extreme weather events.
In order to maintain production, businesses like PepsiCo need to gain resilience ā often through collaboration and innovation. Its Positive Agriculture 2030 plan is a focussed attempt to support regenerative farming practices, restoration and protection of nature, sustainable sourcing and improved livelihoods in its farmers. The company, therefore, is dedicated to promoting human well-being and protecting its natural resources.
PepsiCo has increased its regenerative, restorative and protective practises to reach 4.7 million acres around the world ā nearing its goal of 10 million acres by 2030.
āAs we continue work to help advance toward a more resilient and sustainable food system, Iām proud of the notable progress weāre makingāparticularly in scaling regenerative agriculture, restorative or protective practices and expanding opportunities that help strengthen livelihoods,ā says Jim Andrew, Chief Sustainability Officer and Executive Vice President, PepsiCo.
“Our Positive Agriculture agenda is delivering impact for both people and the planet. While there is more work ahead, this momentum underscores what’s possible through strong collaboration and continuous innovation.”
Supporting the people
Throughout 2025, farmer engagement increased, alongside landscape-level innovation. This was aided by the increase in collaborative capabilities with farmer-focused partners. Using insights and expertise from both parties, PepsiCo and its partners designed locally-relevant programs, meaning farmers could implement the practices most important to them, their crop and their climate.
The programme also contains aligned incentives which focus on economic and environmental benefits. All of this is developed through peer networks, data-driven insights and technical assistance.
The future of agriculture isn’t a distant ambition, it’s something we’re helping build right now, acre by acre.
As of 2025, 70% of its key ingredients are now sourced sustainably, with a goal of 90% by 2030. Through PepsiCo's 'Engaged' pathway, approximately 2% of volumes are progressing towards sustainable practices, demonstrating how these programmes and the support from PepsiCo makes a difference.
The company has supported approximately 224,000 people across its agricultural supply chains and communities since 2021, having used its dedicated programming to help improve economic security for the farmers and workers in its supply chain. PepsiCo's aim is to improve more than 250,000 livelihoods by 2030.
"The future of agriculture isnāt a distant ambition, itās something weāre helping build right now, acre by acre. Weāve now scaled regenerative, restorative and protective practices to 4.7 million acres globally, a meaningful step toward our goal of reaching 10 million acres by 2030," Jim says.
"Behind that number are real people and real collaborations. From working with farmers to co-design locally relevant programs, to launching initiatives like STEP Up for Agriculture with industry collaborators, weāre helping strengthen the systems that support farmers so sustainability is not only achievable, but economically viable.
"Weāre also seeing steady progress in how we source what goes into our products with 70% of our key ingredients being sustainably sourced in accordance with our guidelines."
