BDO’s strategic framework
BDO is taking steps to redefine sustainable business within professional services.
Its strategic plan, CLIMB, integrates sustainability into a framework of quality, investment, growth and stewardship.

At the core is a commitment to long-term resilience, not just for business continuity but also in community development and environmental responsibility.
In 2024, BDO launched a decarbonisation strategy aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aiming for a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and net zero by 2050.
This includes programmes in responsible sourcing and sustainable office design.
Cultural stewardship and employee engagement
Sustainability at BDO is more than carbon reductions; its people are central to its impact.
In 2024, the firm achieved an 86% Employee Engagement Index, hosted 340 inclusion events and mobilised nearly 23,000 volunteer hours.
The ownership culture, supported by an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), fosters responsibility and empowerment.
Emphasising accessibility, flexible working, equitable pay and inclusive professional development, BDO recognises these as critical for both sustainability and employee wellbeing.

Resilience across the value chain
With more than half of BDO’s emissions linked to its supply chain, a Responsible Sourcing Programme was launched in 2024.
This requires suppliers to disclose environmental and human rights practices.
Emissions data visibility was introduced in travel booking systems to encourage sustainable choices.
In 2024, 59% of BDO office spaces were in LEED, WELL or ENERGY STAR-certified buildings, with low-VOC, recycled or circular design materials.
Empowering the next generation
Community impact is a cornerstone of BDO’s ESG strategy.
Partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America as its non-profit cause partner marked a milestone.
This three-year commitment focuses on mentorship, career support and economic empowerment for youth.
BDO donated US$3.1m to community organisations in 2024.
The sustainability agenda shows that responsibility and profitability can co-exist, with accountability in governance and measurable targets.
