Inside Evri's Procurement and Expansion Strategies

Evri has published its annual report, highlighting the incredible growth in parcel deliveries, a testament to its efficient procurement strategies and investment in technology.
With fresh ownership and an increase in spending on social media, Evri aims for enhanced service efficiency, focusing on strategic procurement and supply chain advancements.
The rising demand for parcel delivery services sees the business positioned to become the leading parcel delivery entity in the UK.
Strategic achievements in the Evri report
In its 2024/2025 report, Evri outlines its strategic accomplishments focused around procurement and technological advancements, celebrating the delivery of over 807 million parcels. This marks an 11% rise from the previous year, underlining successful procurement strategies that enhanced operational efficiencies.
Over two years, parcel volumes have risen by 25%, indicating sustained demand and effective supply chain management. Following its Apollo Funds acquisition, Evri recorded a 17% EBITDA adjustment to £341m ($461.7m), showcasing efficient financial management and strategic alignments.
Celebrating its 50th year, Evri has upheld a 99% on-time delivery record, reflecting procurement's critical role in maintaining high delivery standards. The company's Net Promoter Score has increased by 2.4 points to 64, indicating growing customer satisfaction stemming from streamlined procurement processes.
As Martijn de Lange, CEO at Evri, states: “In what was a landmark 50th year for our business, we delivered record adjusted EBITDA and retail-to-consumer parcel volumes driven by our best-ever peak and growth across our divisions and new client wins.
“Apollo’s acquisition of Evri last year was testament to our success to date and, thanks to the dedication of our colleagues and couriers, we are well-positioned for next-generation delivery services.”
Procurement-focused company expansion
Evri has directed £57m (US$77m) towards operations and technology, a strategic investment aiming for efficiency throughout the supply chain and facilitated by effective procurement practices. By realigning resources and relocating three depots, Evri enhances operational capacity while securing seamless procurement processes.
This year saw Evri hire 8,000 couriers and 1,000 operations partners, a strategy reflecting efficient human resource procurement to bolster operations during high-demand periods. Further investments in e-cargo bikes and electric vehicles support sustainable logistics solutions pivotal to Evri's green initiatives.
Martijn explains the expansion into new sectors, including fresh produce and automotive parts, is spurred by strategic procurement and client onboarding processes. The rise in consumer-to-consumer marketplace transactions, exemplified by platforms like eBay and Vinted, has prompted Evri to optimise its procurement channels to accommodate growing parcel volumes.
With platforms like TikTok fostering increased online shopping, Evri's procurement strategies efficiently cater to evolving consumer purchase behaviours, emphasising the importance of agile supply chain management.
Martijn adds: “We continue to meet increased demand for customer-to-customer deliveries for online marketplaces, as buyer and seller behaviour changes – fuelled by scroll and spend social commerce sites such as TikTok’s shop."
Future procurement and partnership horizons
Evri continues to seek new procurement channels to outdo its 2024/2025 achievements, preparing for new collaborations in its growth trajectory. In a key development, Evri has announced a merger with the UK DHL eCommerce arm, increasing its reach within global markets through enhanced procurement capabilities and logistics networks.
The acquisition of Ireland’s customs clearance and logistics specialists, Coll-8, has augmented Evri's cross-border logistics efficiency. This complements future procurement strategies designed to streamline international trade facilitation.
Martijn adds: “A planned £50m (US$67.7m) investment announced in June will see us expand our network of ParcelShops and Lockers.”
By increasing these networks, Evri advances delivery efficiency and optimises procurement practices, allowing couriers to handle multiple parcels concurrently and significantly decreasing the carbon footprint of deliveries.
With its strategic expansion, procurement-edge partnerships and reinforced popularity, Evri is set to achieve new records, driven by its robust procurement methodologies and strategic partnerships.
