A panel discussion at Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE London will explore how to craft effective procurement strategies amid a host of global complexities

Strong procurement strategies matter because they shape how an organisation controls costs, manages supply risks and builds long-term resilience.

When procurement is treated as a strategic function rather than a transactional one, it supports growth and stability across the business. Clear strategies help strengthen supplier partnerships, improve compliance and encourage sustainable choices.

In a global market defined by uncertainty, effective procurement provides the agility and efficiency needed to maintain competitiveness and deliver consistent value.

“It all starts with a strategy,” said Javier Carnevali, Chief Procurement Officer at Grupo Herdez, during the Digital Procurement Strategies Panel at Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE Chicago 2025.

The Procurement Strategies Panel will take place on Day 1 of Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE London 2025, with leaders representing Coupa, Deliveroo, Diebold Nixdorf and Lufthansa taking to the stage.

Driving business growth

Effective procurement strategies are crucial for organisations looking to stay competitive in what is a rapidly-changing market.

Sean Wu, former SVP Manufacturing and Supply Chain at 3M, spoke during Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE Singapore 2025 about the need for procurement leaders to develop strategies that not only enhance efficiency but also drive business growth.

He highlighted that procurement teams often focus too narrowly on savings and operational metrics, without engaging business stakeholders.

"Sometimes procurement teams miss a chance to reach out to the business to understand what they need and how they see procurement helping them grow," he explained.

Sean went on to stress that sustainability should form a foundational component of modern-day procurement and supply chain strategies.

"It has to be part of your procurement or supply chain strategy – it’s not just a checkbox," he stated.
