Bilal Hasan
Supply Chain General Manager at solutions by stc
Bilal Hasan is the Supply Chain General Manager at solutions by stc and, by his own admission, is a man who enjoys the challenges presented by the procurement and supply chain industry.
He created the supply chain and procurement operation from the ground up at the company which has been the number one IT solutions provider in Saudi Arabia for seven years in a row.
He first began his career in computer engineering, before those qualifications led him into senior supply chain management. “I have had a passion for supply chain from the beginning because I feel it's attractive to my personality and it's what I've always been looking for,” he says. “ I'm always looking for challenges and how to facilitate and fix problems..”
After leaving University as a computer engineer, he found his way into the industry programming ERP systems and learning the technology of supply chains, before achieving progression into management and leadership roles.
He is dedicated to self-improvement, and after completing his BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Jordan he has gone on to gain various certifications including a CSCP (APICS), CIL (AIPMM), Agile (Agile Leadership Institute), CISCP and CISCM (IPSCMI). He is also registered as a certified Informa Digital Transformation Practitioner (CXO Transform).
Hasan feels his background in programming and technology built his knowledge from the ground up and has given him a keen eye for detail. “I have built a strong career understanding the details of a supply chain. I started as a programmer on the kind of systems related to supply chain. So then I built my career to be a solution architect.”
He first joined what was then known as the Saudi Telecom Company in 2010 as a Supply Chain Solutions Manager, before progressing through the organisation as a Supply Chain Advisor, Supply Chain Director and Excellence Director.
From those initial beginnings, he now heads a group of procurement professionals managing a spend of SAR7bn (US$1.87bn) a year, working alongside approximately 3000 partners across thousands of KSA projects. For a problem solver, or ‘solution architect’, it is an exciting time to address challenges and find better ways of operating for the business and its clients. “This is my passion,” Hasan continues. “To find a problem and solve it, and after, I feel really satisfied.”
