Procurement Magazine picks out some of the newly-appointed or promoted executives who are helping to shape the future of procurement and supply chain

1. Michael Raphael

Job From: Global Head of Sourcing Solutions Development & Operations, JLL

Job To: Chief Procurement Officer, JLL

“Driving savings and delivering value for our clients is the main priority for our business”

JLL has promoted Michael Raphael to the role of Chief Procurement Officer. He will lead procurement activities globally and manage annual procurement spend for JLL, while also looking after the procurement of goods and services on behalf of JLL clients. Raphael previously served as JLL's Global Head of Sourcing Solutions Development & Operations, a position which saw him manage the global sourcing team that responds to client outsourcing requests. Currently based in Chicago, he previously spent 17 years in Asia in a variety of roles, including as Chief Procurement Officer for the Asia-Pacific region at JLL, leading a team of 226 procurement professionals in 14 countries. He also managed the Vendor Service Centre in Manila, Philippines, that supported JLL globally in areas such as contract management, supplier performance management, electronic RFP creation and procurement reporting. Raphael will lead JLL's Global Procurement Leadership Team while serving as a member on the Global Work Dynamics Board. He succeeds Juud Tempelman following a stint in the role on an interim basis.

2. Emma James

Job From: Director of Procurement and Supply Chain at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

Job To: Chief Commercial Officer, HealthTrust Europe

Emma James

HealthTrust Europe, a Birmingham-based procurement organisation and strategic supply chain partner, has appointed Emma James as its Chief Commercial Officer. James boasts more than 15 years worth of experience in procurement and supply chain within the public sector. Commenting on her appointment, Gary Welch, CEO at HealthTrust Europe, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Emma to our leadership team. Her extensive experience in public sector procurement and her proven track record of driving excellence and innovation makes her the perfect fit for this role.”

3. Bold Baatar

Job From: Chief Executive Copper, Rio Tinto

Job To: Chief Commercial Officer, Rio Tinto

Bold Baatar

Rio Tinto has appointed Bold Baatar as Chief Commercial Officer, succeeding Alf Barrios following his decision to retire. He will lead the group’s commercial and business development activities globally. Baatar takes on accountability for business development immediately, and will relocate to Singapore to take up CCO role from September 2024. 

4. Ugo Gay

Job From: CEO and General Manager, Diasorin Italia

Job To: Chief Operations Officer, Stevanato Group

Ugo Gay

Stevanato Group has appointed Ugo Gay as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO). Gay offers nearly three decades of experience in industry, business management, supply chain and operations. In his new role at Stevanato Group, Gay will shape and execute sourcing, planning and manufacturing strategies.

5. Raphael Bres

Job From: Chief Product Officer, Spiff

Job To: Chief Product & Technology Officer, Tradeshift

Raphael Bres

Tradeshift has welcomed back Raphael Bres as its new Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO). Bres will spearhead strategic product innovation and technological transformation across Tradeshift’s portfolio of solutions. This is his second spell at Tradeshift. He left to join Spiff, which was recently sold to Salesforce.
