Inverto marks 25 years by reshaping global procurement through sustainable, data-driven strategies that balance cost control and climate & risk management

As global supply chains become more intricate and environmental regulation increases, sustainability has become central to procurement.

Inverto, a consultancy focused on procurement and supply chain management since 2000, is at the centre of this shift.

Marking its 25th anniversary in 2025, Inverto has evolved from a challenger brand into a leading global consultancy, trusted by multinational corporations and private equity firms alike.

Inverto’s 25-year procurement journey

What began in Cologne, Germany, has developed into a consultancy trusted by multinational corporations and private equity firms.

The company now has more than 600 procurement and supply chain specialists working across 17 global offices.

Since launching with the goal of redefining procurement to deliver lasting business value, Inverto’s reach and services have steadily expanded.

Its 2017 integration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) helped drive international growth and broadened its offering.

In 2024, new offices in Chicago, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Zurich extended its presence.

By 2025, Inverto marked its quarter-century milestone with a full rebrand.

This refresh includes a bold visual identity and a stylised “O” emblem, which the firm says symbolises unity between Inverto, its clients and BCG.

“The new brand is an invitation to rediscover Inverto,” says Laura McCracken, Global Marketing Director.

“It takes our DNA into the future and represents the promise to continue to provide the best possible support for our customers’ success.”

The rebrand also speaks to Inverto’s broader ambitions, to expand its impact globally and attract talent aligned with procurement and sustainability goals.

Procurement strategies with purpose

Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Weise, has positioned Inverto as a partner to clients developing procurement strategies that go beyond cost management.

“We not only support companies with strategies that create long-term competitive advantages, but also very specifically in their implementation,” says Daniel.

“We find the right balance between cost focus, risk minimisation, innovative ability, quality standards and sustainability for every customer – and have been doing so for 25 years.”

This blend of commercial focus and values-based leadership is embedded throughout the organisation.

"Why are we engaged? Quite simply: Because it's the right thing to do!" says Jan-Christoph Kischkewitz, Managing Director and People Chair.

Inverto’s approach is collaborative, with an emphasis on helping companies align procurement with ethical and environmental responsibility while maintaining commercial performance.

Procurement’s role in sustainability

Sustainability is not just about meeting regulations for Inverto.

Its teams help clients identify environmental and social risks and embed them into procurement structures.

Services include sustainable sourcing, supplier relationship management and sustainability metrics based on frameworks like the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

Inverto encourages clients to set clear sustainability milestones and timelines as part of a broader net zero strategy.

This includes working with non-governmental organisations, academic institutions and research centres to develop new solutions.

One example involved helping a consumer durables manufacturer optimise container fill rates.

This logistical shift reduced CO₂ emissions by 400 tonnes, showing how procurement improvements can reduce environmental impact and boost efficiency.

Inverto also assists organisations in navigating complex regulation, such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and commodity-specific deforestation rules.

The firm supports companies with transparency, human rights protections and environmental compliance.

Jean-Pierre Masson, Managing Director at Inverto

“To succeed in complying with the CSDDD, it is essential for companies to train their employees in the requirements of the new regulation,” says Jean-Pierre Masson, Managing Director at Inverto.

“This is a need expressed by nearly half of the respondents.

Leaders must also adopt a cross-cutting approach and integrate the duty of vigilance into a corporate program that effectively combines cost control, ESG commitment and increased resilience.

The CSDDD should be approached as a performance issue rather than a compliance issue.”

The consultancy also publishes white papers and practical guides on sustainable procurement and material management.

These resources promote transparency, supplier collaboration and consistent improvement, all measured through tangible results.

A procurement future built on responsibility

Looking ahead, Inverto plans to continue growing through data-driven and sustainable procurement services.

What is procurement's role in supporting decarbonisation?

Its role within BCG enables it to offer clients both global insight and specialist technical knowledge.

Inverto supports end-to-end supply chain transformation that balances economic needs with environmental accountability.

It aims to help reshape procurement into a discipline that not only supports commercial goals but also contributes to a transparent, climate-conscious economy.

As procurement evolves, Inverto is positioned as a strategic partner for companies striving to embed sustainability into every link of the supply chain.
