How FedEx is Powering Resilience and Efficiency

While FedEx is known around the world for its ground operations, the delivery management company wants to improve on other methods of transportation through a strategic relationship with CMA CGM and its supply chain operations. Fedex will also become CMA CGMâs designated ocean carrier by offering services and handling select air cargo capacity solutions for long-haul capabilities.
Fedexâs logistics operations
The new alliance will expand the existing relationship FedEx has with CMA CGMâs parent company, CEVA Logistics.
FedEx Supply Chain will integrate with CEVA Logistics, making the supply chain company the leading provider of services within the US with 150 warehouses and a combined workforce of over 200,00 employees across 240 locations.
Raj Subramaniam, President and CEO of FedEx, explains the partnership: âTodayâs announcement enables FedEx to further increase our focus on providing our unique expertise for high-value verticals, including healthcare, automotive, aerospace and data centres.
âBy streamlining our portfolio, FedEx is better positioned to execute our long-term vision and continue to serve as the heartbeat of the industrial economy, delivering unmatched connectivity, reliability and value to our customers globally.
"We look forward to leveraging our complementary relationship with global logistics solutions provider CMA CGM to support the next chapter for FedEx Supply Chain and its team members.â
Rodolphe SaadĂ©, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group, adds: âThe acquisition and partnership with FedEx represent a major step in the development of CEVA Logistics and our logistics activities in North America.
“We are strengthening our ability to provide customers with integrated supply chain solutions. These deals also reinforce our long-term commitment to investing in the United States and supporting the resilience and efficiency of its supply chain.”
Fedex’s procurement infrastructure
Fedex has aimed to strengthen its procurement practices through continued actions. In 2025, the company introduced a pilot programme designed to utilise electronic waste so it doesn’t end up in landfills.
According to statistics from the 2022 Global E-Waste Monitor, 63.4 million tonnes (62 billion kg) of electronic waste were generated worldwide – but only 22.3% of that material was recycled.
The programme received recognition by the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council, receiving the 2025 Leadership Award in the Circular Economy category.
Scott Temple, President at FedEx Supply Chain, says: âI'm proud of the FedEx Supply Chain team's work every day to support our customers and communities in keeping valuable resources, like e-waste, out of landfills.
âThis recognition by the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council demonstrates how circular logistics is more than just a business strategy â it's an innovative way supply chains can help conserve valuable resources, strengthen local enterprises and build a more sustainable future.â
FedEx established a relationship with Neste during the same year to advance sustainable transportation. This partnership encompasses a new supply chain development at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), where FedEx will secure 8,800 tonnes of blended SAF.
Richard Smith, Chief Operating Officer, International and CEO, Airline at FedEx, adds: âAs the worldâs preeminent express transportation company, our initial US deployment of this fuel advances our sustainability goals and bolsters the aviation industryâs efforts to source and use more SAF.â
The partnership also represents Fedexâs goal of transitioning to carbon-neutral operations by 2040.
