Flywl’s Ankur Srivastava: Driving Security in Procurement
Flywl’s Founder and CEO Ankur Srivastava discusses the benefits of integrating security into procurement

With the increasing threat which vulnerabilities pose to supply chains, it is now vital that organisations prioritise security within their procurement processes.

To address this, Flywl was founded with the aim to introduce a connected ecosystem for buyers, sellers and partners.

What is Flywl?

Flywl, founded in 2024, operates a cloud marketplace procurement system for enterprises , designed to ease software procurement and manage cloud commitments.

“Flywl is the operating layer that bridges  the gap between traditional procurement and modern procurement in the age of cloud, SaaS and AI,” explains Ankur Srivastava, Founder and CEO of Flywl.

“Flywl is a solution that steps in and validates that these companies meet the regulatory requirements for the specific industries that these products operate in.

“The cloud marketplaces are also going through a full technical review of products before they list them into their ecosystem, similar to Apple and their App Store, which allows the buyer to have a more curated experience in reviewing, testing and piloting technology in their environment before they make a decision to procure it and move it into production.”

Flywl’s work with SailPoint

Flywl has collaborated with identity management and security company SailPoint.

Ankur adds: “We love working with SailPoint because they are helping us understand the internal procurement processes that need to be modernised, not ripping and replacing them.

“SailPoint is operating in an environment where products can be deployed in multiple clouds and on-prem data centres with licenses that range from perpetual to subscription to consumption-based.  Flywl gives procurement a single pane view of their purchases and licenses.

“Leading companies like SailPoint are incorporating security into procurement because they were finding issues after the deal was completed, causing many problems during deployment.

“Especially in the age of AI, where internal or proprietary data sets can be taken to train data models, this becomes a factor that InfoSec is now required to qualify the data security before they let that product get deployed.

“So, security ultimately has to be included when procurement evaluates that particular solution and before they get brought in.”

Benefits of a hyperscale cloud marketplace

Ankur says that procuring through a hyperscale cloud marketplace can bring multiple advantages for organisations.

“One of the benefits is the fact that you can move fast without compromising your compliance and your security policies,” he explains.

“For example, if you have an iPhone and go to Apple’s App Store today, and decide to buy or download an application, Apple has done their due diligence on the first pass full technical review to ensure the product incorporates all the compliance and regulatory requirements before you download it.

“And similarly, that’s exactly what the cloud marketplaces are doing when it comes to software and SaaS vendors .”

Ankur says things can also be done to make it easier to procure through a cloud marketplace.

“We found that there was a delay in the procurement process because it was a buying experience that doesn’t fit existing procurement processes,” he says.

“Companies can leverage Flywl to drive that procurement through cloud marketplaces, because we make it faster, governed, compliant and fully integrated .”
